Biography:

The Chantettes were a Canadian folk vocal group originating from Guelph, Ontario. Formed in October 1962 by students at Guelph Collegiate Vocational Institute (G.C.V.I.), the ensemble comprised Bev Eccles, Mall Peepre, Billie Collins, Patti Peppin, and Mary Lew Wilkie. Their harmonious blend and versatility allowed them to perform a diverse repertoire, ranging from traditional folk tunes to contemporary covers.

Over approximately eighteen months, The Chantettes made over 70 appearances across various venues, including banquets, churches, summer camps, hospitals, coffeehouses, television, and CBC radio. Their commitment to musical interpretation and group cohesion was evident in their performances.

In the fall of 1964, the group temporarily disbanded as members pursued further education and training. However, their legacy was cemented with the release of their sole album, Remember, in 1965 under the private label CP 6127. The album encapsulates their musical journey and serves as a testament to their contribution to the Canadian folk scene.
