Information/Write-up
The Agostini name is synonymous with Canadian broadcasting.
First, there was Giuseppe Agostini, who in the early days of network radio, conducted several prominent programs which originated in Montreal. Next came Lucio, son of Giuseppe, who not only conquered all facets of radio, but went on to distinguish himself in films, television and recordings.
Lucio’s career began at the age of fourteen under the tutelage of his talented father. He studied woodwind instruments, cello, harmony and musical composition. It is obvious that this basic training put him in good stead for one of the most colourful musical careers in Canadian show business . . . a career that brought his skills as a composer, arranger and conductor to the attention of millions of Canadians.
Latin American music has long been a specialty of Lucio Agostini, and the Canadian Talent Library is pleased to present this new album which has not only been especially arranged and conducted by Mr. Agostini, but features three of his own compositions, recorded for the first time . . . “Leah’s Latin Lover”, “Caramba” and “Black Rose”.
The orchestra might well be considered an all-star unit, containing at its core fifteen of the finest Canadian studio musicians, and made up of four trombones, two trumpets, two woodwinds, two guitars, bass and four percussion.
