Additional Information
Released as The Original Haunted featuring Bob Burgess, with the label noting the group as seen on CBC’s The Restless Years.
‘Mona’ was recorded at Stereo Sound in Montreal. Bob Burgess recalled the studio being in the basement of a large apartment building, where the engineer created echo by suspending microphones in an empty elevator shaft. Burgess particularly remembered Al Birmingham’s slide guitar on the recording. Al Birmingham later confirmed that ‘Mona’ was recorded at Stereo Sound rather than in New York.
‘I’m Just Gonna Blow My Little Mind to Bits’ was recorded at the same Stereo Sound session. Burgess said he wrote the song in about ten minutes while the other musicians were recording ‘Mona’; Birmingham recalled simply that they needed a B-side. The two sides of JET 4002 therefore were not among the Bell Studios recordings in New York, as stated in some earlier accounts.
