Information/Write-up
For those who remember the Rock-A-Billy days of the 60’s the name – Jerry Palmer – will no doubt ring a bell.
He was seen often on teen shows originating from the CBC, CFTO, CHCH, CKVR, CJAY, and many others across the country.
Before Canadian content regulations, his records were hitting charts across eastern and western Canada like clockwork. His personal appearances which were many, covered every province, city and town. With a western sound and his charm, Jerry Palmer won over the country crowds. He was often compared to such artists as Conway Twitty and Johnny Horton. Records such as “Travellin’ Shoes”, “Making Love”, “Shadow Of Love”, “Sweet Loretta”, “Don’t That’ll Be The Day”, and “Walking The Dog”, received heavy airplay, not only in Canada, but in the United States, Great Britain, Germany, Belgium, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand.
He guested and well known U.S. network TV shows as Shebang and Dick Clark’s American Bandstand.
Jerry is, of course, the long list of ex-rockers, who has moved over to the more stable field of country music. This move has been filling country night spots six days a week for the last three or four years.
His appearances on the CBC’s “Ronnie Prophet Show” out of Toronto and “Two For The Country” originating from CKY-TV, Winnipeg, were well received by viewers.
You’ll find in these grooves and that’s why we produced his first LP on the Gaiety Label. You’ll not only be into a strong artist but a number of the selections are self penned. Some current hit filled by a solid writer and singer.
This is Jerry Palmer today and showcases his return to the recording scene. It’s a happy return. He is back with his discoverer, Don Grashey, and the production hands of Chuck Williams.
Like the old days, he is still a great showman and he’s really at home in the country.
