Luke Simmons and His Blue Mountain Boys moved from their native Vancouver, British Columbia to New Zealand in the early 1950's and recorded dozens of 78's on the Tanza label at the Astor Recording Studios in Auckland, New Zealand. The group consisted of the three Canadians Luke Simmons on vocals, Vic Crane on bass, and Clarence LeVesque on fiddle. "Howlin at the Moon" was one of his first recordings.
