Oppportunity b/w Lost Love

One of the first of a wave of Canadian acts to make an impression south of the border. Their live show at the "Whisky-a-go-go" put Mandala in a league of their own. This record was done on KR (Chess) and featured back-up vocals by the Dells. Also the ear-bending solos by Domenic troiano set this group apart and led him to a great career along with George Olliver who is still performing and thrilling audiences to this day.

"Thanks to their dynamic stage act, Mandala had won a recording deal with the KR label in the US and, on their return to Canada, recorded their debut single, Troiano’s “Opportunity” c/w Olliver’s “Lost Love” at Chess studios in Chicago with The Dells providing backing vocals. Released back home at the tail end of January 1967, the group’s debut single stormed into the Toronto top 10, peaking at #3 on the CHUM chart on 20 February."
