Released May 30, 2025
Ben Caplan’s fifth studio album, The Flood, marks a bold shift in his sound and vision. The first in a two part concept series, the album draws from old folk traditions and reimagines them through modern production. With help from collaborators Graham Scott, Andrew Wiseman, and Peter Lutek, Caplan crafts a sweeping, genre-defying work that fuses songcraft with virtuosic musical performances and electronic irreverence.

Written as the world emerged from the quiet isolation of a pandemic, The Flood reflects on endings, beginnings, survival, and transformation. The songs were rehearsed and refined live on stage across Europe and North America as the band toured the new music before taking a break to record the album in Chicago. The music blends exuberant rhythm with atmospheric textures and Caplan’s deep baritone anchors the record, guiding listeners through themes of love, resilience, and environmental reckoning.
Each track flows seamlessly into the next, offering a listening experience that meditates on grief, joy, and the wisdom we carry forward. It’s Caplan’s most sonically ambitious work to date—dark, lush, and full of momentum.
