Wikka

Wikka emerged from Toronto’s underground metal scene in the mid-1980s, evolving through several names—Takus, Witchild, and Darkon—before briefly operating as Oracle and finally becoming Wikka in 1986. Anchored by drummer Mike Childs, guitarist Evan Roworth, and bassist Zsolt Henczely, the band recorded a demo as Oracle before solidifying their name and preparing for a proper release.

By 1988, with vocalist Steve Horwood, guitarist Zak Black, bassist Rikki C. Ricci, and Mike Childs still on drums, Wikka recorded their sole EP at TNT Studios in Toronto. Issued via their own TNT label, only around 1,000 copies were pressed—an underground cult artifact among Canadian metal collectors. The group dissolved shortly thereafter, but Ricci continued the musical thread by founding the Van Halen tribute band 5150.
