Biography
Molly was born in Sidcup, Kent, England, but moved to Nova Scotia with her theatre practitioner parents when she was two, and now lives in Antigonish, Nova Scotia.
Described as an 'old soul with huge reserves of passion' this young singer-songwriter released her first CD, "Through the Static" when she was 14, in June 2009. Produced by Tim Feswick, it was subsequently nominated as New Artist Recording of the Year for Music Nova Scotia and produced two #1's on the East Coast Countdown: Kiss Me was #1 in the top ten of the East Coast Countdown for three weeks and in the top 10 for 4 months, and Textbook Cute reached #1 the first week of March 2010.
Molly was the youngest recipient to receive the support of the Nova Scotia Dept of Tourism Culture and Heritage's Emerging Music program to make Through the Static. She's performed original work at venues throughout Nova Scotia including Stanfest, Harmony Bazaar, Riverfest, the Music Room, the Carlton, the Company House, The Osprey, The Al Whittle, The Bauer and many more. She's been delighted and honoured to work with some of Eastern Canada's finest artists including Dave Carroll, Christina Martin, Ian Sherwood, Irish Mythen, Charlie A'Court, and The Trews!
Highlights of 2010 so far: being included in the Halifax for Haiti event at the Halifax Metro Centre (see blogs), being a semi finalist in the International Songwriting Competition with her song "Little Bones", and having her song "People Lie" chosen to create a new music video through a Viewfinders competition with the Atlantic Film Festival.
Spring 2010 included gigs with Old Man Luedecke and Ryan McGrath, as well as several bars in Paris, and the UK!
The summer of 2010 will include: Harmony Bazaar, Evolve Festival, New Glasgow Riverfront Jubilee, IWK Telethon, Tunes At Noon (Halifax) Bishops Landing Concert Series, The Trellis, and in the Autumn 2010, a NS limited tour with Charlie A'Court.
Her music reminds one of a young Joni Mitchell, and her voice has been compared to Regina Spektor, but she cites Bob Dylan and T-Bone Burnett as two of her greatest musical heros.
