Biography
T.C. Gallant was a Canadian country singer and songwriter from Springfield, Nova Scotia, active during the mid-1970s.
Gallant brought a distinctly Maritime character to his performances. Contemporary Canadian music-industry coverage described him as a Springfield native whose appearance at the Oshawa Country Jamboree in May 1975 placed a “down east” style of country music in the spotlight.
That concert, held at the Canadian Legion Hall in Oshawa, Ontario, placed Gallant alongside performers including Tim Daniels, Mary Lou, Lloyd Phinney, Eddie Kernot, Gord Badgerow, John Price, and Janice and Rodney Craig. His appearance confirms that he was active on Ontario’s country-show circuit during the period.
Gallant’s only presently documented recording is the 1975 Periwinkle Records single pairing ‘I’m the Only One for You!’ with ‘Like the Changes of the Seasons’. He wrote both songs, which were produced by Art Snider, with Bob Fisher serving as executive producer. The recordings were made at Sound Canada in Toronto and published by Bob Fisher Music.
The single joined Gallant’s Nova Scotia country background with the Toronto-based production network surrounding Sound Canada and Periwinkle Records.
