LADIES AND GENTLEMEN:
It is not fair to describe the Capers as just being versatile since they are incomparably versatile. Their international following includes aficionados of pop, folk, jazz, country, and of course, rock and roll music. Their fans who are truly international have founded clubs in Canada, as well as many of the larger cities in the United States.
These specialists in versatility and variety have cut a previous album “INTRODUCING THE VERSATILE CAPERS” which includes songs from “You’ll Never Walk Alone” to “The Yodelling Song”. It’s no wonder that this group has done so well when you consider all the talent it includes.
Ronnie Fray, the lead vocalist, brings something different to a modern vocal and instrumental group, a voice, and what a voice. His renditions of “CARAMIA MINE” and “EXODUS” will turn critics into fans. Ronnie also plays lead guitar and doubles on harmonica.
Tommy Dean, who is the bass guitarist, is not known as ‘Dean of country music’ yet, but after hearing his unique version of “COUNTRY BOY” in this album, there will be no doubt he has a right to it. Tommy also plays tenor sax in the group.
The drummer, Clay Highley, is the featured vocalist on “ONCE I WAS A SLAVE IN THE SAWMILL”. It is almost unbelievable to watch and listen to what he can do on the drums with the sticks he says he made in the sawmill. Clay never fails to keep his audience hypnotized when he is performing.
The newest member of the Capers is Michael Dean, who is a vocalist as well as organist and pianist. There won’t be anyone who isn’t impressed with his rendition of “PEOPLE”. Michael is the only member who is an American citizen, the other three boys hail from London, Ontario. Michael’s personality is very outstanding as is his showmanship on the stage.
It is much more of a pleasure than a task to be the President of the CAPERS fan club and I am sure this album will bring you endless enjoyment each time you listen to it.
