INTRODUCING

DEJA VOODOO

....IN THEIR FIRST ALBUM, A THUMPIN' COLLECTION OF THEIR OWN AND EVERYBODY'S FAVORITE BLUES, COUNTRY, AND RHYTHM TUNES.

Deja Voodoo's bop career turned strange at their very first gig, a couple of years ago: drummer Tony Dewald showed up late and drunk, singer/guitarist Gerard Van Herk was so nervous at fronting a band that people mistook his knocking knees for a new dance, they broke a drum skin and a bunch of guitar strings in their first four songs, and when they returned to their practice studio they caught an armed burglar inside.

For some reason the burglar feared these cats and hid under a desk until the police arrived, but by then Tony and Gerard knew the swingin' new rhythm sound was the life for them.

Since then, life's been one mad frenzy: recording sessions, records and tapes, concert, radio and nightclub appearances across the country...nothing, it seems, is impossible for this sludgeabilly duo from Montreal.

Like the big letters at the top say, this is Deja Voodoo's first album, and they've included something for everyone: pounding dance numbers like "Big Scary Daddy" and "Voodoo Barbecue"; swingin' rockabilly like "Eager Beaver Baby"; blues, 60s punk, finger-poppin' cool -- even an old country standard like "16 Tons" gets the patented Deja Voodoo treatment.

The Voodoo boys call this album CEMETERY because it's full of stuff they dug up all over the place, and if you listen hard you'll hear echoes of Johnny Otis, Jack Scott, Link Wray, Bo Diddley, Ronny and the Daytonas, Billy Lee Riley, Monkees, Delta Rhythm Boys, Buddy Holly, Johnny Cash, Richard Berry, Sacred Cows, Velvet Underground, Dale Hawkins, Swingin' Blue Jeans, Sleepy LaBeef, Cramps, Peggy Lee, Gene Vincent, Coasters, Sonics, Rock 'n' Roll Trio, Screamin' Jay Hawkins, Chuck Berry, Elvis Presley, Jean-Paul Sartre, Wire, Jimmy Reed, Merle Travis, Sheb Wooley, Gun Club, Beach Boys, ?, and the Mysterians, Hank Mizell, Bill Haley, Ferlin Husky, and the Four Horsemen, knocked out in that red hot and blue Deja Voodoo style.

So if you dig pounding drums, boppin' sludge guitar, and out-o-sight lyrics delivered in the newest style then get up, get going, get gone, and get diggin' this CEMETERY.
