Information/Write-up
In March, 1926 Barry’s father left the tiny village of Viitaniemi, Finland for the golden promise of British Columbia. Like his father and grandfather before him, Lennart Hall logged the giant woods of the Pacific Northwest, but, unlike them, he never returned to the old country.
Logging is a tradition full of colourful, adventurous people, and for several years Barry Hall and Sheila Baker listened to many of these men and women talk about their lives. Their stories and tales—both humorous and tragic—characterize the early days of logging, and the songs on this album were written in an effort to capture that experience. Thanks are extended to everyone who opened their homes and their hearts.
