Probably the best album Musebox has ever asked me to review. Mike Feuerstack makes music that gets far too little attention considering how incredible it is. I don't want to step on anyone's toes but...who's his manager? Anyways, Lies On The Prize is a phenomenal album. Though its roots may lay in the dated tradition of 90s indie-rock, the aesthetics are updated enough and the quality of the songwriting is timeless, with lines like, "You've got your youth/Though that will fade/Can you keep me safe and warm/if the kettle whistles along with the fire alarm," sending shivers down your spine. If not now, then maybe one day people will realize how incredible this album is; I'm talking Neil Young shit right here.
