Enthralled

In January 2007, fiddler and composer Oliver Schroer was invited to Glasgow, Scotland to play on “Astar” a piece commissioned by the Celtic Connections Festival and written by flautist Nuala Kennedy. Over the course of the festival both Nuala and Oliver realized that they shared an approach to music making which was highly compatible and embarked on a duo album project.

The results speak for themselves – superb playing throughout, and a musical understanding and compatibility that is obvious. Although never able to tour together due to Oliver’s illness Enthralled was finished the following year just prior to his untimely passing.

Quintessentially melodic, it evokes a strong and vibrant image of two players truly captivated by each other’s mesmeric melodies. Enthralled; an apt title indeed.
