Guitarist Richard Ring is widely respected both in his native Canada and abroad. He was once described by bassist Red Mitchell as "one of the greatest guitarists I've ever played with." He has had a long musical association with the singer Ranee Lee (who was also his wife for 46 years), on whose albums much of Ring's excellent work can be found. He studied in New York with Barry Galbraith and Gilbert Lacombe, among others. He has worked with Tony Bennett, Sammy Davis Jr., Ed Thigpen, Ray Brown, Michel LeGrand, Oliver Jones and many others. He is also a member of the Denny Christianson Big Band. He released an album that his wife Ranee Lee and pianist Oliver Jones appeared on entitled 'Ring in Minor' in 1996 on Justin Time Records. He passed away on July 6, 2018.
