A long-time fan of Wilf Carter, Randy’s been singing and yodelling Wilf’s songs all through his life. In the bunkhouse, at the campfire, on the wagon train, while breaking horses and out on the open range.
“I grew up on a small prairie farm, listening to Wilf’s music on the radio. It was my childhood dream to be a singing cowboy just like him.”
Country music’s first superstar, Wilf sang songs of prairie life that appealed to both cowboys and the common working man. He opened the doors for country music to become an industry, by being placed #1 on CBS radio in 1935.
Here, Randy presents a tribute to his mentor — the late, great legendary performer, Wilf Carter.
